Only my TA and another friend wanted to go the the old Castle, the rest of the crew either went to shop or back to the hostel to sleep.
The cracks in the wall where pigeons reside, allow for concrete to expand and ventilation to enter the chambers.
Long exposure during the day
I was nice having an afternoon to tour the city. I took a few of my favorite photos of this trip on this day.
Castille San felipe~ Our TA said the castle was built from different ashes, mortars, bricks and also animal poop.
After visiting San Felipe, we decided to head east towards San Pedro and catch a glimpse of the sunset in Cartagena
Sunset at the beach! we were told the water was highly polluted, so we didn't dare to touch it
Walking back to the hostel along the old wall of Cartagena
Iconic buildings of Cartagena
This was our last night at Cartagena, the next day morning we had a boat trip to visit the lagoon connecting our site
This really wasn't the kind of boat I had in mind. Several times I thought the whole boat was going to flip, because we had 16 people on such a small boat
Some parts of the lagoon were actually really dirty, which in turn gave us new perspective and ideas on which design strategies to use on our site. That really teal looking water actually smelled extremely bad.
Next few images will be mostly images I took on the bus ride to the airport. The boat ride concluded the last part of our trip, and we spent the remainder of the day packing for our flight at 2 PM.
Boarding and flying back to the states.
This was a studio group photo at Giancarlo's school. The sun was too bright, I couldn't even open my eyes. My glasses also cracked right before this studio trip, so I didn't have any sun protection. As you can see there is only one Caucasian guy in our studio~
Anyways to conclude this whole studio trip, I would say it was nice to be able to learn so much about Cartagena and experience the vibrant street life of Colombia. Since we had to use a few days to work on studio and attend meetings, I wished that this studio trip would have been longer so we would be able to explore other parts of Cartagena (such as the church on the mountain [La popa]). As I said before, this post is probably going to be my last post in a while, since I really have to start my job hunt and update my portfolio! Thanks to Giancarlo, Juan, Luis, and Mariana for organizing this trip for us, and also thanks to all the sponsors who made this trip possible for us! I really enjoyed the weather and ambient in Cartagena. It was about 33 C when we left, while returning to philly which was around -12 C (45C difference)...
Thanks again for whoever read this post! Leave some comments please on page 1 !! I won't be writing another post for a while :( but I might add some new images on my tldr page (aka misc. page)
Anyways~ Finally done with this post!
Gonna go back home from studio now!
